A Word from Our Head Coach

Hello Piranha Families,

As I write this, it is an absolutely beautiful day. I can’t believe it is getting so close to the end of the school year.

Our short course season has passed and we begin our long course season and our summer championship time of year.

Our annual pasta feed was a very fun event. The cakes were the best I’ve ever seen. I could see some time and effort were put into those cakes and it showed by the high bids for each one. Many many thanks to all of the Piranha parents for planning and running a great event. And thanks to all the swimmers who helped serve and bus tables. It definitely was a team effort.

There are many things happening at once right now. Many of our swimmers will be competing in the 2 nd meet of our series of stroke meets. The Freestyle and Backstroke meet will be held at H pool on May 31.

Our high school swimmers are nearing the end of their season with the league championships May 8 and 9 and North Coast Sections the following weekend.

We have our first long course meet of the year in Vallejo May 1-3.

Qualifying Piranhas will be traveling to San Jose for a LC JR+ meet in June. June is also the month for our team meet in Reno! I hope as many Piranhas as possible will make the trip to Reno. It is such a fun, great meet with lots of team building.

Our fireworks sales will be on again this year in front of Wal-Mart. We will be needing all Piranhas 18 years and older to work in our booth. Watch for details which will be coming soon.

July Gets crazy. The last team long course meet will be held in Petaluma, followed very quickly by JO’s, RSEL and Far Western. Can you believe that the end of the season is that close?

OK, Swimmers! How are you progressing towards your goals? Are you where you wanted to be by this time of the year? Keep working hard; keep striving to reach the next level in everything you do at practice. Each day try to pick one skill that you can improve that day. Don’t be ordinary – be extraordinary.

Believe, Strive and you will Achieve!

Go Piranhas!

See you on deck

Annette

Help Wanted

Are you looking for a job to help with those family commitment hours. Here are some great jobs that need filling.

Sponsorship

We are in desperate need of one or two parents to take on team sponsorship. This job could be as simple and contacting past sponsors about renewing their sponsorship. If could also include contacting other local businesses about starting a new sponsorship. This is a critical job that has been left open for too long.

Reno Meet Coordinator

This job really isn’t as intimidating as it sounds. Our team, all groups, will be attending the Reno meet in June. The team typically stays at the same hotel and eats together.

Fireworks Chair

We need a parent to take of scheduling and coordinating the volunteers for our fireworks booth.

Fireworks Bake Sale

We need a parent to coordinate and plan the team bake sale that will take place at our fireworks booth.

Trailer Transport

We need a parent with a trailer hitch to help transport the team trailer with fireworks to the fireworks booth each morning and to move it to storage each night.

May Meet Jobs:

Marshall Coordinator

This person will coordinate the volunteers for the job of Marshalling. There is no training required for marshalling. They stand on the pool deck with vests and makes sure that swimmers are not running, goofing off or acting foolishly around the pool.

Set Up/Clean Up

We are in need of a parent who will take the lead on the set up and clean up of the meet. Sheri Lang will have all of the information about what needs to be done. There will be volunteers to help you. She just needs someone to take the lead on the date of the meet and make sure it gets done.

Congrats!

Curtis Shinn and Taylor Decker qualified to swim at the Far Westerns meet. Both swimmers represented our team well.

Jeffrey Tang and Kenneth Shinn both qualified to swim at the 10 and Under Championship Meet. Great job!

Moving Up

Several Piranha swimmers moved into new groups. Their advancement reflects the dedication and effort they brought to swimming over the past months. Congratulations to you all.
