Coaching Staff |
| Annette Waner has been a swim coach for over 20 years and has been coaching in Sonoma County since 1989.
Annette began to love the sport of competitive swimming when she joined her local age group team,
swam for her high school team, and competed at Sacramento State. Annette graduated from SSU with a Masters
degree in Kinesiology and taught physical education classes at SSU for a few years. In 1992, Annette first
joined the Piranha Swimming coaching staff and was head age group coach through 1996. After five years as a
head coach in Sebastopol, Annette returned to Piranhas in 2002 as head coach until 2009. During a short retirement
from the sport, she enjoyed working in the veterinary field in a local animal emergency hospital. Just not able
to stay away from swimming, Annette has returned to be head coach of Piranha Swimming once again. She looks
forward to continuing the Piranha tradition of producing great swimmers and outstanding young people, instilling
the ideals of passion, commitment, and hard work towards achievement in sport and life. |

| Vicki Beard has been an age group coach with Piranha
Swimming since 2005. Her involvement with the Piranhas began in 1998 when
her children were swimmers. She became active as a Pacific Swimming
official and was a nationally rated USA Swimming official until 2008. She
served as the Zone 3 Officials Chair from 2006 to 2008. Vicki's philosophy
of sports is that everyone should have the opportunity to participate and
excel, and she believes that swimming provides opportunities for growth
and development beyond the purely physical. Though never a competitive
swimmer, sports have been a big part of her life since she was a child.
She was a member of collegiate golf, volleyball, and softball teams at
Miami-Dade Junior College and Santa Rosa Junior College, and more recently
has been involved in running and triathlons. When not coaching, Vicki is a
professional archaeologist and architectural historian working for the
consulting firm of Tom Origer & Associates.
