In order to run a successful team, many hours of volunteer work are required. We need parents (or other volunteers) to help out with the many
tasks needed to run a successful swim program. As part of the swimmer commitment agreement, every family is required
to work 25 hours per year on team functions or duties. See below for examples of ways you can contribute.
If you are unable to work the required hours, they will be "paid off" at the end of the year
(Billed @ $10.00 per hour, for remaining unworked hours).

There are many many ways that you can earn your family commitment hours. If you are
unsure about what would be the best way for you to help out, please call or e-mail.
Here are areas where the team needs help:
Team Coordination:
- Committee Coordinators: There are several committee's that need coordinators. Email us or contact a Board member if interested.
- There are many smaller jobs that need to be done either regularly or one-time jobs. If you are interested in taking on responsibility for a job, please contact us so that we can discuss the options.
Swim Meets: All of the swim meets that we attend are run entirely by volunteers.
- Stroke and Turn Volunteers: You can volunteer as a stroke and turn official at ANY meet. To be certified, a short class is required (offered at many meets), and then taking a small test online. Until you are certified, you can still volunteer, though you will be "shadowing" a trained stroke and turn official at meets. This means that you will be following them and learning the job from them. This job truly offers the best view at any meet.
- Timers: Operate stop watches and/or Colorado timing System to track swimmer's race times. Each team is responsible for adequate coverage of 2-3 timers.
- Set Up/Tear Down: Commit to arrive early or to stay after to setup or take down the various equipment in the pool area for the swim meet.
- Clerk of Course: Provides lists of all swimmers in all events and checks in swimmers for the meet. Posts seeding of events when applicable.
- Marshalls: Wear identifying vest and enforce warmup procedures and maintain order in the swimming venue. Marshalls have the full authority to warn or order
to cease and desist, and with the Referee, to remove, or to have removed, anyone behaving in an unsafe manner or using abusive language or whose actions are disrupting
the orderly conduct of the meet.
- Hospitality: Prepares and distributes refreshments to all volunteers, including officials and coaches.
- Recorder of Records: Records official times made in each event and inputs data into the computer for USA Swimming.
- Colorado Operator: Operate timing unit which records the start and stop of each race.
- Award Clerks: Work as a team to cut ribbons and label each with the appropriate swimmer's information for each race.
Fundraising:
- Pasta Feed / Lap-a-thon / Fireworks Booth: These events are our swim team's main fundraisers. We need your help to make these events successful. Helping to plan these events and working these events are great ways to earn hours.
- Team Sponsorships: We are in need of a parent who is interested in being the coordinator and reaching out to the community for team sponsors.
Swimmer Recruitment:
- Team Bulletin Board: The Team could use someone to update and maintain the Piranha bulletin board at Honeybee pool. This board is at the entrance to the pool and will be passed by many swimmers and parents during the summer season. This is a great way to recruit new swimmers.
- Recruitment Chair: Volunteer to coordinate the recruitment of new swimmers to the team. As we all know, kids grow up. As the older kids graduate and move on to college, the team must recruit new young swimmers to take their place.
